KTM SX-E 2.12 gives young riders more room to grow
KTM’s new electric mini bike adds a larger front wheel and taller suspension while keeping its weight at 29kg.

KTM has added the SX-E 2.12 to its electric mini-bike family, placing it between the SX-E 2 and SX-E 3. The new model is aimed at taller young riders who need more room than the smaller SX-E 2 provides. UK pricing is £2,549, and sales through authorised KTM dealers are expected to start in mid-October 2026.
More space without extra weight
The motorcycle is built around a lengthened version of the SX-E 2’s aluminium centre-tube frame. Its front wheel measures 12 inches rather than the smaller bike’s 10 inches, while taller suspension components create a more substantial riding position. Seat height increases by 66mm over the SX-E 2’s 500mm maximum. Ground clearance and wheelbase also grow, but the weight stays at 29kg.
Suspension hardware consists of a WP hydraulic fork with 90mm of travel at the front. At the rear, a 34mm hydraulic monoshock brings preload adjustment, mounts directly to the swingarm and provides 70mm of travel. KTM says the front and rear units have been matched to deliver balanced damping.
Hub drive and simple safety systems
The hub-mounted motor produces 1.8kW and up to 50Nm, drawing energy from a 9.4Ah lithium-ion battery with a power-tool-style format. Eliminating the chain and sprockets removes exposed mechanical parts. KTM associates that layout with lower weight, reduced maintenance requirements and an additional safety benefit in a crash.
The SX-E 2.12 operates silently, but it is not road legal and has no type approval. Its use is therefore limited to private land with the owner’s permission. A 500W external charger plugs into either a 110- or 230-volt socket and takes approximately 60 minutes to complete a charge. A roll-over sensor cuts power during a crash or tip-over, while a wrist lanyard linked to the kill switch stops the motor if the rider loses control.
