UK campaign seeks STOP signs after serious motorcycle crash
Rob Loupart wants give-way signs changed at minor-road junctions with A and B roads after suffering severe injuries in a collision.

Rob Loupart has started a UK Parliament petition calling for thousands of give-way signs to be replaced by STOP signs. The proposal targets junctions where minor roads meet A and B roads, requiring drivers to halt before checking traffic on the priority road.
The campaign follows Loupart’s crash on 3 December 2025 near Knighton in Powys, Wales. A van entered the junction as he approached on his motorcycle. The collision caused two broken vertebrae, a shattered pelvis and multiple serious leg injuries. Loupart underwent six operations and spent four months in hospital.
Why Loupart wants a mandatory stop
Loupart’s argument centres on ineffective observation as a major human factor in injury collisions. He points to drivers failing to look properly or misjudging the speed of traffic approaching on the priority road. In his view, making drivers stop would encourage a more thorough check before they enter the junction.
Department for Transport figures released in July 2026 put the issue in a wider road-safety context: about half of UK road casualties occurred at a junction or within 20 metres of one. The figures use police-recorded collision data covering the period up to 2025. Loupart’s suggested change is limited to minor-road junctions with A and B roads; other junctions and roundabouts would remain outside the proposal.
