A Honda RVF750R RC45 with Castrol and World Superbike connections sold for £26,450 at H&H Classic’s Final Sale of 2026. The auction was held on October 28 at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull, with more than 200 classic motorcycles and vintage scooters offered.

The RC45 had been supplied to Burmah Castrol Trading, Honda’s main World Superbike team sponsor at the time, one month before the 1997 season began. H&H considered that it may have served as a Castrol lubricants test motorcycle. It had covered 32,560 miles and passed through more than two previous owners.

Its equipment included a current V5 and MoT, period Maxton suspension, a Dymag front wheel and a Yoshimura exhaust. The final figure, including auction fees, came in below the bike’s £27,000 top estimate.

Other notable results

A 1973 Triumph X-75 Hurricane reached £11,040, beating its top estimate by £3,040. Only 1,200 examples were built before production ended because of new noise regulations. A 1955 Black Shadow with a Steib ‘Zeppelin’ sidecar outfit produced an even bigger surprise, selling for £39,675 against a £22,000 top estimate. Despite its good visual condition, it required recommissioning before returning to the road. It was one of the company’s last big V-twins, with only 144 motorcycles from the D-series models making it through production.

Among the smaller machines, a 1994 Honda Dax 70 sold for £4,025—more than £100 above the price of a new Dax 125. Two 1979 Puch mopeds offered a much cheaper route into the sale at £750 each. One came with a full suite of fairings and hard-shelled panniers, while the other showed just one mile on its odometer.
