Zontes ZT903-R: a new three-cylinder naked with about 150 hp
Zontes is preparing a larger performance naked with an engine expected to be near 900cc and a reported 183kg weight.

Zontes is preparing the ZT903-R, a new high-performance naked expected to use a three-cylinder engine. Prototypes are already being road-tested in China, while design-registration images reveal a motorcycle that appears to be well advanced. If the early estimates are confirmed, the ZT903-R will give Zontes a route into a category populated by bikes such as the Ducati Monster, Triumph Street Triple and Yamaha MT-09.
The new machine sits above the 703R, whose 699cc triple produces 95bhp. The ZT903-R does not look like a straightforward enlargement of that engine: the castings, mounting points and cover layouts visible in the images differ from those used by the 703 platform, pointing to a fresh design. Capacity has not been confirmed, although the ZT903-R name suggests an engine in the region of 900cc. Zontes is said to have discussed output of roughly 150 metric horsepower, or about 148bhp, alongside a weight of 183kg. Neither figure has been confirmed for the production model.
A more premium chassis and equipment package
The design combines an aluminium chassis with a single-sided swingarm, giving the ZT903-R a more upmarket visual character than Zontes’ less expensive offerings. Its suspension uses an upside-down fork and a rear monoshock, while twin discs handle braking at the front. Radial-mount Brembo calipers also appear in the images, but their presence on the final showroom motorcycle remains uncertain.
The styling takes a deliberately aggressive direction, with stacked LED headlights, bar-end mirrors and sharply formed bodywork extending forward from the fuel tank. A short rear section and two high-level exhaust silencers add to the compact appearance. The cockpit is built around a large rectangular TFT screen, and the design details suggest that adjustable footrests and a quickshifter may be part of the package.
The expected electronic suite includes a six-axis inertial measurement unit, cornering ABS, traction control, ride modes and electronic throttle control, although the final list is still unconfirmed. The ZT903-R could become a more direct rival to the Street Triple, Monster and MT-09, but its final capacity, performance and weight will determine exactly where it fits. No UK launch date or price has been confirmed, and the production specification is not final. The presence of prototypes on Chinese roads nevertheless shows that the project has moved beyond its earliest design phase.
