Moto Guzzi is taking a significant step away from its familiar formula with The Trip, a new roadster aimed at A2 licence holders. Output is rated at 47 bhp, and the company calls the model the beginning of a new generation for Mandello del Lario. Its defining mechanical change is the use of a parallel-twin engine instead of the transverse V-twin associated with the marque. Moto Guzzi says it has not used a parallel twin since the early 1980s.

The Trip 500 name does not yet come with a confirmed exact engine capacity. The claimed 47 bhp places the bike right at the A2 limit, while Moto Guzzi says the torque delivery is concentrated low in the rev range to suit relaxed town riding. A ride-by-wire throttle provides Road, Sport and Rain modes. A quickshifter and turn-by-turn navigation will be offered as accessories, and Moto Guzzi positions the electronics package as technology from a larger class of motorcycle.

Compact dimensions, useful equipment

The fully fuelled motorcycle weighs 180 kg, with a seat height starting at 790 mm. Its metal tank holds 15 litres. Equipment includes a round 3.6-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, a full-LED headlight and backlit switchgear. The styling keeps the surfaces clean and restrained, combining a deep-black engine finish with a modern interpretation of the eagle motif in the headlight.

Black Metropolis, Green Grove and Red Beat form the standard colour range. A The Opening special edition will accompany the launch, although its differences from the standard versions have not been detailed. The Trip is scheduled to appear on Moto Guzzi’s stand at EICMA in Milan from November 5 to 8, followed by planned dealer arrivals in early 2027.

The new roadster will become the smallest-capacity motorcycle in the current Moto Guzzi range, which currently starts with the 853-cubic-centimetre V7. Pricing and the engine’s exact capacity remain undisclosed. The engine is expected to be closely related to the 457cc unit used in A2 Aprilia models, but Moto Guzzi has not confirmed that connection.
