YenereZ 700 FT: the Ténéré 700 becomes a 158kg flat tracker
Rough Crafts rebuilds the Ténéré 700 around YZ450F-inspired styling, a new subframe, a smaller tank and lowered suspension.

Rough Crafts has given Yamaha’s Ténéré 700 an entirely different purpose. Called the YenereZ 700 FT, the build uses the adventure bike as its starting point but takes its design direction from the racing Yamaha YZ450F. It weighs 158 kilograms with fuel and all fluids on board. The Ténéré 700 used as the donor is stated at approximately 205 kilograms, putting the reported difference at 47 kilograms.
From digital sketch to working motorcycle
Rough Crafts head Winston Yeh began the project after discovering an Estenson Racing YZ450F configured for flat-track competition. The first version existed as a digital mock-up, before Yamaha Taiwan supplied a Ténéré 700 for the concept to become a physical build. Faber Studio worked with Rough Crafts on the construction. This was not simply a bodywork exercise: the motorcycle’s layout and several of its major components were reworked around the flat-track brief.
The original steel subframe was replaced by an aluminium structure sourced from the YZ450F. Rough Crafts also made a dedicated aluminium fuel tank with a capacity of 6.8 litres; the tank doubles as a mounting point for part of the new plastic bodywork. Up front, Öhlins RXF48S forks were fitted and shortened for this configuration. The standard Ténéré 700 rear shock was retained, paired with a specially designed linkage system that lowers the rear of the motorcycle. Together, these changes shift the adventure-based machine towards a lighter, more playful role on a dirt track.
