Kawasaki teases a new inline-four sports-tourer
Fast road footage and a four-cylinder soundtrack offer clues, but Kawasaki has not yet identified the motorcycle behind the teaser.

Kawasaki UK has released a short Instagram teaser for a new motorcycle, without giving it a name or setting a presentation date. The footage is shot from the bike and shows brisk riding across several types of road, while the soundtrack points to an inline-four engine. It ends with the words “DESTINATION: ADRENALINE STAY TUNED”. Kawasaki has not so far commented on the motorcycle’s identity or specification.
The choice of roads and the energetic riding style suggest a sports-oriented machine intended for road touring, although that remains an interpretation rather than a confirmed category. Looking at Kawasaki’s current line-up, three directions appear plausible: a sportier Versys, a more powerful Ninja SX or a touring motorcycle built around the Z900.
Three possible routes
The Versys 1100 already serves as Kawasaki’s road-touring motorcycle, combining an upright riding position with 133 bhp. The brief view of the screen in the teaser, however, does not clearly resemble a Versys. To occupy a genuinely different position, a new version would need a noticeably stronger sporting bias rather than simply repeating the current formula.
The second possibility is a sharper Ninja SX. The screen appears closer to that family’s design, while an engine based on the ZX-10R and adapted for road use could give a new variant a much more aggressive character. The difficulty is Kawasaki’s existing supercharged H2 SX SE, which already fills the hyper-sports-tourer role. Any new motorcycle aimed at the same territory would need a clear distinction within the range.
The most straightforward option would be a touring Z900. The naked Z900 or the Z900 SE could provide the mechanical starting point for a motorcycle with greater wind protection and touring equipment. That would let Kawasaki position it alongside the Honda CB1000GT, Yamaha Tracer 9 and Suzuki GSX-S1000GT without directly challenging its own larger models. The Z900 is cited at 125 bhp, while the CB1000GT is cited at 148 bhp; the former makes more sense for a nimble sports-tourer than a machine focused on extreme top-end output.
The Z900RS already occupies a separate retro position against the Honda CB1000F, so a contemporary touring Z900 would give Kawasaki a cleaner entry into the sporty touring sector. For now, though, the teaser supplies direction rather than an answer. The eventual name, design and specification will determine whether this is a new member of the Z, Ninja or Versys families, or a specialised version of an existing model.
