Suzuki GSX-10R brings the K5 engine and 15 electronic functions
Suzuki’s new fully faired sportbike combines a 999 cc four-cylinder engine with an aluminium chassis and an extensive rider-aid package.
Suzuki has unveiled the GSX-10R at EICMA 2026, introducing a fully faired sportbike built to cover daily riding, weekend trips and track use. Its central feature is the K5-based four-cylinder engine, supported by an aluminium chassis, adjustable suspension and a broad electronics package. Sales are scheduled to begin progressively in various countries from summer 2027, while Suzuki has not announced a price.
The K5 powerplant in a new role
The GSX-10R uses a liquid-cooled 999 cc inline-four with DOHC, based on the K5 engine. That engine first appeared in the GSX-R1000 in 2005 and was later used in the GSX-S1000GT and Katana. For this application, Suzuki has adapted it for usable low- and mid-range response while retaining strong performance at higher revs. Peak torque is 106 Nm at 9,250 rpm. Electronic throttle control provides three power modes, and a two-way quickshifter enables gear changes without using the clutch.
The engine is housed in an aluminium twin-spar frame paired with a new aluminium swingarm. Suspension consists of a fully adjustable 43 mm KYB upside-down fork and a rear shock with preload, rebound and compression-damping adjustment. An electronic steering damper is fitted, while braking comes from twin front discs with radial four-piston Brembo calipers. Running weight is 214 kg, seat height is 810 mm and the fuel tank holds 18 litres. Clip-on handlebars reinforce the sporting riding position, with front winglets adding a race-inspired visual element.
Electronics aimed at road and track
Suzuki’s S.I.R.S. system brings together 15 electronic functions, a number the manufacturer describes as the highest fitted to one of its motorcycles. The GSX-10R is Suzuki’s first motorcycle with Slide Control, which manages rear-wheel lateral movement while cornering. It also introduces Brake Hold, keeping the motorcycle stationary for approximately 30 seconds on an uphill, downhill or level surface.
The equipment list also includes ten-level traction control, engine-brake control, launch control, cornering ABS and cruise control. A colour TFT display links to the Suzuki Ride Connect+ application, and a USB-C port is provided. The SGBS system projects a beam of light onto the road when the turn signal is operating, helping pedestrians and other road users notice the motorcycle. With this combination of K5-derived mechanical hardware and extensive electronic assistance, the GSX-10R is positioned as a road-capable sportbike with clear track intent.
