Ducati has presented the 2027 DesertX Rally at EICMA 2026 as the model’s second generation, with a clear move towards rally-raid use. This is a mechanical redesign rather than a cosmetic refresh: the bike receives an 890 cc V2 engine, a monocoque frame and a Full Floater rear suspension system.

A new engine and chassis foundation

The new V2 replaces the previous 937 cc Testastretta engine, while peak torque remains 92 Nm. Ducati describes the unit as the lightest engine it has built in its category. Its emphasis on low- and mid-range response is intended to make power delivery predictable on loose or uneven ground, where controllability matters more than simply extending the rev range.

The steel trellis frame used by the previous version gives way to a dedicated monocoque design. At the rear, the Full Floater system works through progressive linkage. Suspension equipment consists of a fully adjustable rear shock and a closed-cartridge KYB fork with 48 mm tubes, Kashima Coating and DLC. Wheel travel measures 250 mm at the front and 240 mm at the rear. An adjustable Öhlins steering damper completes the chassis package.

Wheels, brakes and electronics

The Takasago Excel spoked wheels are tubeless and measure 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear, with 36 spokes in the rear wheel. Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres provide the contact with the ground. Braking is supplied by twin 305 mm front discs with Brembo M4.32 calipers and a 265 mm rear disc.

A six-axis IMU manages cornering ABS, eight-level traction control, four-level wheelie control and engine-brake adjustment. ABS can be disabled in Enduro and Rally modes. The rider also gets six riding modes—Sport, Rally, Touring, Urban, Wet and Enduro—together with Quickshifter 2.0, a 5-inch TFT display, full LED lighting and two USB ports. Smartphone connectivity and navigation remain optional features.

Price and European arrival

The German starting price is expected to be 19,290 euros, with the motorcycle expected to reach European dealers from April 2027. Ducati has not announced a Greek-market price. With its new engine, monocoque frame and long-travel suspension, the DesertX Rally 2027 presents a more focused off-road package, backed by hardware changes rather than styling alone.
