CFMoto is showing two versions of its new 550 platform at EICMA 2026: the 550MT and the 550MT-X. Both are powered by a parallel twin with a 270-degree crankshaft, producing 54 hp and 52 Nm. Their roles then diverge. The 550MT is configured around road use and touring, while the 550MT-X takes a more committed adventure direction for riding away from the pavement.

The 550MT is the road-going option

The 550MT uses bodywork intended to improve wind protection and runs a 19-inch front wheel with a 17-inch rear. Its 23-litre tank suits the touring brief, while the two-position seat offers heights of 800 and 820 mm. Kerb weight is 207 kg.

Its electronics include cornering ABS and traction control managed by an IMU. The equipment list also brings a Rear Detection System, cruise control, smart connectivity and a bidirectional quickshifter. That combination makes the 550MT the convenience-focused member of the pair, with hardware aimed at everyday road use as well as longer journeys.

The 550MT-X is built around a dirtier brief

The 550MT-X takes its design cues from the rally-raid world and changes the formula most visibly through its wheels and suspension. A 21-inch front wheel is matched to an 18-inch rear, while suspension travel reaches 230 mm at the front and 220 mm at the rear. Ground clearance is 250 mm.

The off-road-oriented setup uses a smaller 16-litre fuel tank and a taller seat adjustable from 830 to 850 mm. Both ABS and traction control can be configured for off-road conditions. The result is a clear split within one platform: the 550MT prioritises wind protection and touring, while the 550MT-X uses its larger wheels, longer travel and greater clearance to pursue more demanding adventure riding.
