2027 KTM 1390 Super Duke R gains new screen and Hypure brakes
The R and R Evo receive an 8.8-inch touchscreen, offline navigation, new controls and two fresh colour treatments.

KTM is updating the 1390 Super Duke R and 1390 Super Duke R Evo for 2027, concentrating the changes on their interface, braking hardware and visual treatment. Both versions now use an 8.8-inch colour touchscreen with bonded glass, a feature previously introduced on the limited 1390 Super Duke RR. New handlebar controls sit alongside it, allowing the rider to operate the system with either the display or physical switches.
The larger panel is more than a size increase. KTM says it improves legibility and resistance to scratches and glare, while bringing a simpler menu layout and USB-C charging. Offline navigation is also new to the Super Duke R. Riders can download maps by town, region or country, then use route planning, active guidance, map view and a setting for curvy roads without relying on a phone’s mobile-data connection.
The riding modes have been reworked as part of the same interface update. KTM places more emphasis on personalisation and says the modes are easier to reach through the screen and switchgear. Overall, the company presents the 2027 mechanical package as an evolution rather than a clean-sheet redesign, making the electronics and equipment changes the main story of this update.
Hypure calipers join the two R models
At the front wheel, both motorcycles replace Brembo Stylema calipers with the newer Brembo Hypure design. The hardware had already appeared on the Super Duke RR, and now becomes part of the R and R Evo specification. The suspension distinction remains clear: the standard R uses manually adjustable WP Apex units, while the R Evo is equipped with WP’s semi-active system.
Despite its Evo designation, the R Evo retains a conventional manual gearbox. It does not switch to KTM’s AMT automated transmission, which separates this model from other Evo versions in the manufacturer’s range.
KTM is also offering two new finishes for 2027, named Orange and Black. The latter combines darker graphics with a fully black frame. That is the first time the Super Duke R has been shown without its familiar orange trellis frame, giving the large naked machine a considerably darker visual identity.
