Senna Agius takes a dirt-track route towards his MotoGP dream
The Australian will make his MotoGP move in 2027, with Casey Stoner as a reference point and the top-rookie award as his immediate target.

Senna Agius will step into MotoGP in 2027 with a clear first-season ambition: to be named rookie of the year. The Australian rider believes his dirt-track background has shaped a skillset that shares an important foundation with Casey Stoner’s, although he is not presenting that connection as a comparison of their achievements.
Stoner won two premier-class world titles and remains a major reference for Agius because of his distinctive way of riding a motorcycle. Agius’s longer-term ambition is correspondingly high. He wants to win as many world championships as possible and earn the kind of respect Stoner built during his career. For 2027, however, the target is more immediate: establish himself as the leading newcomer in the class.
Agius has already experienced the demands of MotoGP machinery once. His first ride came earlier this year at the post-race test in Austria, where the scale of the step became clear immediately. He described the motorcycle as exceptionally demanding, highlighting its physics, the forces experienced while accelerating along the straight and braking, the gearbox and the strength of its braking performance.
Agius is expected to be the only Australian on the 2027 grid, adding a national dimension to his arrival. He wants motorcycle-racing fans at home to have someone to support, while making the fastest possible adjustment to the premier class. His aim is to finish the first season knowing he gave everything to the opportunity. For Agius, the pressure that comes with it is a privilege rather than something to avoid.
