Pecco Bagnaia has been taken to a hospital in Doha after a serious crash in the Qatar MotoGP Sprint. Ducati says initial examinations found two fractures in his right foot, affecting the fourth and fifth metatarsals. Further checks at the hospital will determine whether the injuries require surgery.

The collision came at the final corner of the opening lap, when Fermin Aldeguer ran into Bagnaia. The Italian was carried away on a stretcher while conscious, and the Sprint was stopped with a red flag. FIM stewards judged Aldeguer responsible and handed him two long-lap penalties for the restarted race.

Ducati has not confirmed Bagnaia’s absence from Sunday’s Qatar Grand Prix, but his participation is highly doubtful after the injury. If he does not start, Jorge Martin will move from 11th to 10th on the grid. Martin finished third in the Sprint and must score points if Marc Marquez wins, otherwise the Ducati rider will secure the 2026 MotoGP title.

The end of Bagnaia’s Ducati spell

Bagnaia is approaching the final races of his Ducati period before moving to Aprilia next season. The remaining rounds are in Portugal and Valencia, followed by his expected first ride on the Aprilia at the post-race Valencia test on 1 December. In Qatar, Bagnaia qualified fifth after setting the fourth-fastest time in Friday practice. He initially ran in the podium positions during the Sprint before dropping back to fifth during the opening lap.
