Aprilia Racing occupied all three podium places in the Silverstone MotoGP race. Raúl Fernández of the SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team took victory ahead of Jorge Martín and Marco Bezzecchi, giving Aprilia another 1-2-3 result. It was the team’s third complete podium sweep of the season, following its victories in the corresponding order at Assen in June and Le Mans in May.

Fernández leads from start to finish

Fernández was the clear winner for Trackhouse. The Spanish rider led from the first corner to the last and crossed the finish line first, delivering another major MotoGP victory for Aprilia. His result took Aprilia Racing to seven MotoGP wins this season and 15 victories in the premier class.

Jorge Martín started from pole position but dropped a few places after a less-than-ideal getaway. He fought back to second, securing his sixth podium of the season and his 38th in the premier class. On 240 points, he remains the championship leader. Martín said the main mistake was his start: at Turn 1 he tried too hard to hold his position, failed to brake hard enough and the ride-height device did not return to position. Despite losing places, he said the positive was having the pace to fight for the win.

Bezzecchi moves back to second in the standings

Marco Bezzecchi started fifth and immediately moved into the leading group. Still recovering from injuries sustained at the Sachsenring, he defended his position through to the chequered flag to finish third. It was his seventh podium of the season and his 25th in the premier class. The result also moved him back to second in the championship standings, on 209 points.

Aprilia’s championship position

Fernández’s victory also means that every Aprilia rider on this year’s grid has now won at least one Grand Prix this season. According to the announcement, Aprilia has reached 309 World Championship victories, while Martín, Bezzecchi and Ai Ogura occupy the top three positions in the overall standings.

Massimo Rivola called the weekend almost perfect and noted that Aprilia had brought technical updates to Silverstone. He congratulated Fernández, Justin Marks and the SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team for their contribution to the MotoGP project. Rivola also warned that the next race will take place at a circuit regarded as Marc Márquez territory. Aprilia nevertheless leaves Britain with the strongest possible racing result: victory and a complete podium sweep.
