Dainese has launched the Smart GO, an electronic airbag vest intended to make active protection easier to integrate into everyday riding. It weighs 780g with the gas generator fitted, can be worn over or under motorcycle clothing, and is also suitable for use with casual jackets. UK pricing is £329. Adjustable straps allow the single-size vest to fit different body shapes, while its compact construction means it can be put away in a backpack, motorcycle luggage or beneath a scooter seat.

Electronic deployment, with defined limits

There is no physical cable linking the Smart GO to the motorcycle. Dainese’s D-air algorithm monitors riding dynamics, identifying a dangerous situation and deploying the airbag within milliseconds. The vest is rated Level 2 for chest and back protection under EN 1621-4. Dainese also says the vest can be used without a separate rigid back protector. Inside, a diaphragm layout is designed to spread inflation pressure evenly through the protected zones.

Dainese has developed the algorithm for road riding and light off-road use rather than track riding. That distinction matters for buyers considering the vest for different kinds of motorcycling. The gas generator is user-replaceable up to three times, giving the ownership process a clearly defined replacement limit.

USB-C power and the optional kit

The Smart GO can draw power from a compatible USB-C smartphone when USB On-The-Go is supported. The alternative is an optional dedicated power bank. Dainese claims up to 72 hours of riding autonomy with that accessory. System controls are handled through the D-air app using Bluetooth.

A dedicated 15-litre water-resistant backpack is also available. Its magnetic attachment to the vest can be released within seconds when the rider leaves the motorcycle, and the bag provides an organiser, a laptop compartment and an external pocket. UK prices are £35 for the power bank, £59 for a replacement gas generator and £119 for the backpack. Selecting all three accessories takes the package close to £550, so the £329 entry price refers to the vest itself rather than the complete setup.
