Nicolo Bulega added another victory to his Estoril weekend by winning Sunday morning’s WorldSBK Superpole Race. The Italian started from second after Iker Lecuona took the holeshot, but a mistake by the Spaniard at the first corner immediately reshaped the race and put Bulega in front. Lecuona was unable to return to the fight for the win.

Third place was settled on the final lap. Miguel Oliveira held the position at its beginning, but Alberto Surra passed him at Turn 3, making better use of the grip from the rear of his motorcycle. Surra consequently secured the final podium position behind Bulega, while Oliveira came home fourth.

Alvaro Bautista finished fifth and Axel Bassani sixth. Xavi Vierge, Jake Dixon and Lorenzo Baldassarri followed in positions seven to nine, with Sam Lowes completing the top ten. The result gave Bulega his second victory at Estoril during the same race weekend.

Lowes and Montella make first-corner contact

The opening corner also produced contact between Alex Lowes and Yari Montella. Montella fell to 13th and was subsequently given a long-lap penalty, which temporarily left him classified 16th. He recovered to 13th by the finish. Lowes was sent to the back of the field after the incident, but climbed back to 11th place before the chequered flag.
