Honda Sensing Ride brings radar and DCT to the 2027 Africa Twin
Honda’s new rider-assistance system will debut on the 2027 CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports.

Honda has presented Honda Sensing Ride in Milan during EICMA, introducing a new rider-assistance system for motorcycles. Its first application is scheduled for the 2027 CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports. Honda places the development within its long-term objective of achieving zero accidents by 2050.
The system uses radar units with a 1 mm wavelength, positioned at the front and rear of the motorcycle. They detect vehicles and conditions in the surrounding area, while Honda Sensing Ride combines those inputs with the rider’s actions and the motorcycle’s behaviour. The resulting warnings and assistance functions are intended to improve safety and help avoid accidents.
DCT forms the system’s foundation
Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission sits at the centre of the package. Honda introduced DCT in 2010 as the world’s first dual-clutch transmission system for motorcycles. In Honda Sensing Ride, it works with Adaptive Cruise Control and Stop & Go to support speed and gear-change management, automatic stopping and moving off.
The rider must still provide an input to restart the motorcycle after it has stopped. The same technical foundation also supports two functions developed for motorcycle use: Group Ride Assist, which provides enhanced support during group riding, and Blind Spot Information, which helps monitor areas around the motorcycle that are not directly visible.
