The Suzuki GSX-8R has retained its British Sportbike Championship crown, following its 2025 success with another class title in 2026. Asher Durham secured the championship for Powerslide Suzuki, while his teammate Cameron Dawson placed third in the standings on a GSX-8R.

That result gives Suzuki’s fully faired sportbike back-to-back titles and makes it the most successful racing model in the company’s 776cc platform so far. Suzuki GB marketing manager Jak Tyrrell thanked Powerslide representatives Brad Clarke and Dale Coaster for their work throughout the season. He also credited Durham’s campaign and the competitiveness of a class where small margins can decide the outcome.

The 776cc family

The GSX-8R is built around a 776cc parallel-twin engine and is closely related to the GSX-8S, the first model launched on this platform. Suzuki later expanded the family with the GSX-8T and GSX-8TT, which apply a modern-classic direction. In racing terms, however, the fully faired 8R has delivered the platform’s strongest results to date.

For road use, standard equipment includes selectable power modes, traction control, a two-way quickshifter and a five-inch colour TFT display. The GSX-8R is listed in five colour options. The commercial details quoted for the relevant market are an OTR price of £8,999, a representative 3.9 per cent APR finance offer and inclusion in Suzuki’s 10-year warranty scheme.
