Norton’s Manx R has received the Red Dot ‘Best of the Best’ award, the company’s first major accolade since its revival. The recognition is for the new superbike’s design, while the model itself is offered in four versions.

Simon Skinner, Norton Motorcycles’ Head of Design, led the project and accepted the award for Norton. He said the jury had assessed a fully resolved motorcycle rather than an abstract styling proposal, and credited every member of the team involved in bringing the Manx R to life. Skinner also pointed to the bike’s strong presence, its proportions and the deliberate reduction of unnecessary visual detail as central parts of its design approach.

Four versions around a V4

The range opens with the standard Manx R at £20,250. The Apex follows at £24,750, while the Signature is priced at £38,750. The First Edition occupies the top position and adds an Akrapovic exhaust system among its equipment. Its price is supplied when prospective customers contact their local Norton dealership, rather than being listed with the other three versions.

Power comes from a new 1200cc V4 engine built by TVS at its Hosur plant in India. Norton gives the output as 206bhp at 11,500rpm and torque as 96 lb-ft at 9,000rpm. The result is a four-model family that combines a common engine concept with distinct equipment and pricing levels, while the Red Dot recognition puts the Manx R’s design at the centre of Norton’s latest revival story.
