Honda is introducing two upgraded CBR1000RR-R Fireblade versions for 2027: the SP and the HRC Works Edition. Both put an even stronger emphasis on circuit use, combining high-specification equipment with a broader range of adjustments, while retaining the possibility of riding outside the track. The SP was developed using HRC expertise and experience and is intended to serve as the foundation for a race motorcycle.

Chassis, suspension and braking

The update begins with a new aluminium chassis that uses a different stiffness-distribution concept and redesigned geometry. A lighter swingarm complements the changes to the motorcycle’s core structure. On the Fireblade SP, Öhlins Smart Electronic Control SE-C3.0 electronic suspension combines a 43 mm NPX (SV) inverted fork with a TTX36 (SV) rear shock. The system is managed through Öhlins’ Object Based Tuning interface, allowing more detailed adjustment of suspension behaviour.

The wheels and 330 mm front discs also receive lighter designs. The discs work with new four-piston Brembo Hypure calipers. A six-axis IMU coordinates the electronic systems and the HESD electronic steering damper, which offers three adjustment levels. The aerodynamic package was developed with HRC and retains the previous model’s downforce while adopting a cleaner design approach.

214.6 hp and a wider tuning window

The short-stroke inline four-cylinder engine produces 214.6 hp (160 kW) and 114 Nm. New two-stage Variable Air Funnels are intended to strengthen the midrange while preserving performance at high revs. The 2-Motor Throttle-By-Wire system manages the response during acceleration and during deceleration through engine braking.

Revised camshaft timing, extra adjustment at the cam gears and changes to the valve mechanism are combined with specially machined piston crowns and combustion chambers to enable a higher compression ratio. Honda also reduces weight with magnesium engine covers, aluminium bolts and lighter crankcases. A redesigned distance between the gearbox shafts creates more options for race gearing, while first gear is 5% longer.

The exhaust is completed by a lightweight, compact Akrapovič silencer. The rider interface consists of a 5-inch colour TFT display and a four-way switch. Three preset riding modes provide adjustment for power, engine braking, wheelie control and HSTC, while Start Mode supports optimised starts and Honda SMART Key adds everyday convenience. The new LED headlight incorporates daytime running lights, the titanium fuel tank is exposed and the seat height has increased.
