Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 opens a new entry point for 2027
The Sprint 440 pairs a 440cc single with a low seat and cruiser ergonomics, reaching the US market in Spring 2027.

Harley-Davidson is adding a new gateway to its range with the 2027 Sprint 440. The cruiser-style motorcycle is already arriving in international markets, including Canada and Europe, while US customers are scheduled to receive it in Spring 2027. Harley-Davidson says Sprint 440 motorcycles sold in the United States will be assembled at its Vehicle Operations plant in York, Pennsylvania.
A cruiser interpretation of the X440 platform
The Sprint 440 starts from the X440 and X440T, two motorcycles jointly designed and engineered with Hero MotoCorp and licensed to use the Harley-Davidson brand. Instead of following the more conventional standard-roadster direction of those models, the new motorcycle adopts a more pronounced cruiser stance. That change gives it a closer visual and ergonomic relationship to Harley-Davidson’s larger bikes while establishing it as an entry point to the family.
A simple 440cc engine and approachable dimensions
Power comes from a 440cc air/oil-cooled single-cylinder engine. Harley-Davidson claims 27 hp at 6,000 rpm and 28 lb-ft at 4,000 rpm. The company links that engine choice to lower weight and complexity, along with reduced maintenance costs. The announced curb weight is 412 pounds.
The seat measures 26.9 inches, while Harley-Davidson also quotes a 26.4-inch laden seat height. Those figures are central to the Sprint 440’s accessible brief for new riders and people returning to motorcycling. Artie Starrs, Harley-Davidson’s President & Chief Executive Officer, presents the model as an invitation to ride that can suit beginners building confidence, returning riders and experienced riders looking for an uncomplicated motorcycle.
The US version will have a training-school assignment as well as a showroom role. Harley-Davidson plans to use the Sprint 440 at its Riding Academy, replacing the X350RA built by QJ Motor. Its low seat, moderate output and relatively uncomplicated engine layout therefore serve a broader entry-level purpose: introducing more riders to the Harley-Davidson range while keeping the motorcycle’s format distinctly cruiser-oriented.
