Ducati is taking the Desmo450 MX and Desmo450 MX Factory into 2027 with a carefully targeted set of revisions, around eighteen months after the pair first appeared. The foundation remains the 449.6cc single-cylinder Desmo450, complete with its Desmodromic valve system. Claimed output is unchanged at 63.5bhp at 9,400rpm and 39.1lb.ft of torque at 7,500rpm. Ducati says the development work reflects feedback from the model’s first full racing season, concentrating on response, durability and adjustability rather than a wholesale redesign.

The standard MX’s changes

The standard Desmo450 MX now uses a 51-tooth rear sprocket, revising the final-drive ratio to sharpen the bike’s response when exiting corners. The ends of the gearshift and rear-brake levers have also been redesigned, while a 40mm fuel-tank cap is intended to make refuelling quicker. New Pirelli Scorpion MX32 Mid-Soft tyres measure 80/100×21 at the front and 110/90×19 at the rear.

Ducati has also worked through a list of durability-related components. The changes cover the starter-motor gear coupling, the water-pump oil seal, the exhaust manifold’s connection to the silencer, the chain-guide support, the fork-slider guards and the front engine-to-frame brackets. An optional Wi-Fi module adds predictive maintenance: it studies how the motorcycle is used and adjusts the engine’s maintenance intervals instead of relying solely on a fixed schedule. The standard bike’s 2027 appearance is revised too, with black logos replacing the previous white ones.

What comes with the MX Factory

The Desmo450 MX Factory carries over the standard model’s updates and adds a complete Akrapovič titanium exhaust with dedicated mapping. Ducati says the system cuts 1.7kg compared with the standard exhaust, while also improving power delivery and acceleration. Showa suspension components receive Dark Kashima and TiO surface treatments on both the fork and shock, and the triple clamps are machined from solid billet. Despite the extra hardware, Ducati says the Factory weighs less than the standard motorcycle.

Further Factory equipment includes a sump guard, front-disc cover, RK MXU chain and a Holeshot device for starts. Its Wi-Fi module works with the Ducati X-Link app, giving riders adjustment of Riding Modes, engine response, Launch Control, engine braking and traction control. A red-and-black Ducati Corse design distinguishes the Factory visually for 2027.

The listed prices are £9,495 for the Desmo450 MX and £10,795 for the MX Factory. Initial deliveries are expected at selected European dealerships, followed by distribution to the rest of the world. UK pricing for the 2027 models has not yet been confirmed. For context, the full Desmo450 MX specification was unveiled in April 2025 and the motorcycle reached UK dealerships at £11,245, marking Ducati’s first entry into motocross.
