Ducati has previewed the Desmo250 EDS at EICMA, a four-stroke 250 road-legal enduro intended to join its European range from July 2027 as a 2028 model. The motorcycle is still being presented as a prototype, so the display bike should not be treated as the final production specification.

Ducati is aiming the EDS at two overlapping audiences: riders who want more fun and confidence on trails, and experienced users looking for effectiveness in competition-oriented riding. The company characterises the motorcycle as light, agile and precise. It also says its new engine is intended to combine smooth delivery with easy operation and lively performance, a balance that will matter on a machine expected to move between public roads and dirt tracks.

The likely foundation is the Desmo250 MX. That motocross model uses a 249cc desmodromic single with a claimed 43.9 bhp at 12,500 rpm, a 15,000 rpm rev limit and a 103 kg wet weight without fuel. Its chassis is shared with the 450 motocross model. The road-legal version is expected to use a milder engine tune, while its service schedule will be measured in miles rather than running hours. The Desmo250 EDS follows the Desmo450 EDS by one year, extending a dirt-bike family that began with the Desmo450 MX in 2025 and now covers motocross, enduro and road-legal enduro in two capacities.
