Kawasaki Europe is bringing the Ninja H2 back to its European range for 2027, following its last appearance there in 2020. This is more than a market reintroduction: the supercharged engine and exhaust have been revised to meet Euro5+ requirements. The changes also bring lower claimed performance figures than those listed for the 2026 motorcycle.

The specifications list the new Ninja H2 at 197 hp at 11,000 rpm without ram air, while Kawasaki Europe quotes 206 hp at the same engine speed with ram air. Claimed torque is 99.5 lb-ft at 8,500 rpm. The 2026 version was listed at 240 hp at 11,500 rpm and 104.9 lb-ft at 11,000 rpm, also with ram air. Kawasaki is still keeping the Ninja H2R as the family’s track-only machine, with claimed output above 296 hp.

A deeper compliance revision

The core package remains a liquid-cooled 998cc supercharged inline-four with DOHC and 16 valves. For Euro5+, Kawasaki revised the throttle bodies, pistons, cylinder head, cylinder, crankshaft and camshafts. The exhaust now uses different pipe diameters, a revised pre-chamber arrangement and a silencer that is longer but narrower. The supercharger also receives a different impeller design.

These parts are not entirely new within Kawasaki’s range. The same changes were already present in the standards-compliant version of the Z H2 SE engine, which remained in the European lineup. It also links the Ninja H2’s emissions data to the Z H2’s EPA and CARB certifications. The H2’s gear ratios have been revised to match those of the Z H2 as well.

Familiar bodywork, focused hardware changes

The visual formula is largely carried over, including the Mirror Coated Spark Black finish and green trellis frame. The most visible equipment change is at the front brake: four-piston Brembo Hypure monobloc calipers replace the Stylema units. Kawasaki describes the Hypure design as lightweight, rigid and linear in response. The instrumentation is also updated with two selectable display modes, while the KYB AOS-II fork and Öhlins TTX36 rear shock remain in place.

The Ninja H2R does not receive those particular revisions; it retains the Stylema calipers and the previous display. For 2027, the road-going range consists of the Ninja H2 and Ninja H2 Carbon. The Carbon version is identified by an upper fairing made from lightweight, high-rigidity carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic, or CFRP.

The standard H2 specification includes a six-speed transmission, a high-tensile steel trellis frame, dual 330 mm front discs and a 250 mm rear disc. Tire sizes are 120/70 ZR17 at the front and 200/55 ZR17 at the rear. Kawasaki’s listed dimensions include a 57.3-inch wheelbase, a 32.5-inch seat height, a 4.5-gallon fuel tank and a claimed 525-pound curb weight.
