Raul Fernandez claims his first MotoGP pole at Mandalika
The Aprilia rider edged Bezzecchi, while Marquez qualified ahead of Martin for the Sprint.

Raul Fernandez secured the first MotoGP pole of his career at Mandalika. The Aprilia rider already had a Sprint victory and a Grand Prix win on his record, but had not previously started a premier-class race from pole. The result follows his position at the top of Friday practice and confirms his speed around the Indonesian circuit.
Marco Bezzecchi finished 0.1 seconds behind Fernandez. The Italian had to rely on the time from his first run after yellow flags cancelled a lap that could have put him into pole contention. Fabio Di Giannantonio was the quickest Ducati rider in qualifying.
The key battle behind the front of the grid involved Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin. Martin was only seventh after the opening run and needed a strong final attempt. Marquez deliberately followed him out of the pits, while Aprilia sent Martin a message on the dashboard. Martin backed off, but Marquez did the same and stayed behind him. Martin then improved to fifth, immediately behind Marquez.
Fermin Aldeguer will start from the second row despite another crash. He and Ai Ogura were the two riders to progress from Q1 at the front of that session. Ogura fell from his Trackhouse Aprilia in Q1 and continued with only one motorcycle. He will share the third row with Alex Marquez and Pedro Acosta.
Fabio Quartararo was last in Q2 and will start behind Pecco Bagnaia and Franco Morbidelli. Toprak Razgatlioglu returned after dislocating his shoulder in FP, but will line up 19th for Pramac. The Mandalika Sprint is set for 13 laps, starting at 3pm local time, or 8am in the United Kingdom.
