MotoGP Mandalika: Three key battles on a packed Saturday
Martin leads Marquez by two points as Aprilia sets the Friday pace ahead of FP2, qualifying and the Sprint in Indonesia.

The 2026 Indonesian MotoGP weekend reaches a pivotal Saturday at Mandalika, with FP2, qualifying and the Sprint all on the schedule. Jorge Martin leads Marc Marquez by two points at the top of the MotoGP World Championship. Marquez arrives after taking both wins at Motegi in the previous round, giving him the strongest possible result before the Indonesian programme resumes.
FP2 is due to begin at 10:10am local time, or 3:10am in the UK. Qualifying follows at 10:50am local time (3:50am UK), with the Sprint scheduled for 3:00pm at Mandalika, equivalent to 8:00am in the UK.
Friday’s running put Aprilia at the centre of the story, with its entries occupying the top three places. Raul Fernandez was fastest on the Trackhouse Aprilia, ahead of Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi, the two riders expected to feature prominently. Pedro Acosta was the leading KTM rider outside that Aprilia group, while Marc Marquez was Ducati’s fastest representative.
The performance echoes Aprilia’s strong presence at Mandalika in 2025, although pole position and the Sprint points still have to be settled on track. Last year’s event included a collision between Bezzecchi and Marquez, after which Fermin Aldeguer secured his first and, so far, only victory. The other Ducati riders struggled with the special heat-resistant rear tyre.
A difficult qualifying route for Aldeguer
Aldeguer must now go through Qualifying 1. His Friday included two crashes followed by a technical issue, leaving him with a demanding route into the starting order before the main qualifying sessions.
