LiveWire warns over its viability as Harley-Davidson limits support
Recurring losses, negative operating cash flow and future funding needs are putting pressure on the electric motorcycle company, while Harley-Davidson will not cover its operating losses going forward.

LiveWire has warned of substantial doubt about its ability to continue as a going concern. Its management points to recurring operating losses, negative cash flow from operations, limited liquidity and anticipated future funding requirements. The warning was included in the company’s third-quarter financial results, released on October 29, 2026, and concerns the period within one year after the issue of its consolidated financial statements for September 30, 2026.
The pressure also includes motorcycle sales that have not reached their intended targets. LiveWire has accumulated debt, with obligations set to mature further in 2027. To support its operations and business plan, the company is evaluating significant capital raises, strategic partnerships or investments, sales and other strategic transactions. LiveWire has made clear that none of these routes is assured, either in terms of success or of producing terms acceptable to the company, its lienholders or its stockholders.
A management change and a new funding reality
The warning came about one week after Karim Donnez resigned as CEO. Roy Gallagher of Ankura Consulting Group was appointed Chief Restructuring Officer, placing a formal restructuring role at the centre of LiveWire’s next phase. The outcome could also affect the company’s product plans, including the possibility of presenting the DUST Hightail motorcycle at EICMA 2026.
Harley-Davidson is not planning to fund LiveWire’s operating losses going forward, CEO Artie Starrs said. Starrs added that LiveWire’s team has been working on other forms of capital. That leaves the electric motorcycle company needing to pursue external or alternative financing while it tries to maintain its operations and bring future products forward. The DUST Hightail remains a possibility rather than a confirmed EICMA 2026 unveiling.
