Choosing a motorcycle intercom starts with how it will be used, not with the length of its feature list. Sena divides the decision between solo riding, carrying a pillion or riding alongside one other motorcyclist, and communicating within a larger group. Those scenarios affect the battery life, range and connection system that matter most.

For solo riding and two-person trips

A rider travelling alone can still use a smartphone connection for hands-free calls, music and navigation directions. The €169 Vortex also provides Bluetooth communication with a pillion or another rider, up to 27 hours of talk time, a 1.2 km Bluetooth Intercom range and IPX7 water resistance. Sena considers it suitable both for a rider carrying a pillion and for two people travelling together.

When extended days in the saddle make endurance the priority, the €239 Apex uses two interchangeable batteries. Each is rated for up to 20 hours, giving a combined total of up to 40 hours of use. For two motorcycles carrying three or four users, the €289 Apex Plus connects up to four people over Bluetooth, reaches 1.6 km and keeps the two interchangeable batteries.

When the group grows

For groups involving three or more motorcycles, Sena recommends Mesh rather than a chain of separate Bluetooth links. The Spider X Slim is the least expensive option at €279. It weighs 23.2 g, is 16 mm thick and brings Sound by Bose, AI-based noise reduction, voice commands, water resistance and up to 11 hours of communication.

The step up is represented by the 60X and 60S EVO, each priced at €429. Both combine Bluetooth, Mesh 3.0 and Wave Intercom. They support up to four users over Bluetooth, up to 24 through Mesh and a virtually unlimited number through Wave when a mobile network is available. Mesh talk time is rated at up to 19 hours. Their controls set them apart: the 60S EVO uses Sena’s jog dial, while the 60X has a joystick and two programmable buttons.

For riders who place particular value on music rather than only on calls or occasional navigation directions, Sena highlights the Spider X Slim, 60X and 60S EVO. All three combine Sound by Bose with AI-based noise reduction.
