Aegerter joins PTR Triumph for the 2027 WorldSSP season
The two-time Supersport champion will race Triumph’s new Street Triple 798 RS as the team targets the title.

Dominique Aegerter has secured his place on the 2027 FIM Supersport World Championship grid by signing with factory-supported PTR Triumph Racing. The two-time WorldSSP champion will ride the new Triumph Street Triple 798 RS, bringing a proven title record to a project openly aiming for championship contention.
A difficult return, backed by a strong record
The move follows a demanding 2026 campaign. Aegerter returned to WorldSSP with Kawasaki’s factory team after three seasons in WorldSBK with GRT Yamaha. Returning to the ZX-6R 636 was more difficult than expected, but his results improved late in the year. He placed eighth in Race 2 at Estoril and fifth in Race 1 at Jerez before taking his only podium of the season in the finale. Finishing second to then-teammate Jeremy Alcoba, he helped Kawasaki secure its first WorldSSP one-two in a decade.
Aegerter’s Supersport résumé remains substantial. He won the 2021 title with Ten Kate Racing Yamaha after collecting 10 victories and 16 podiums, then retained the championship in 2022 with 17 wins from 23 races. That same year he also won the MotoE World Cup. After moving to WorldSBK, he became the first Swiss rider to reach a podium in the series. Aegerter said he was relieved to have secured his racing future for 2027 and was looking forward to his first test with the Triumph motorcycle.
Triumph expands its WorldSSP programme
PTR Triumph team manager Simon Buckmaster said the team wants to take the final step and fight for the World Championship in 2027. He also identified Aegerter as the rider suited to that task. Triumph has announced a full factory team with Renegade Racing, while continuing its support for PTR and Compos Racing. Aegerter’s arrival gives the Street Triple 798 RS project an experienced rider with two WorldSSP titles, as the manufacturer broadens its presence in the category for the coming season.
