Storm Stacey confirms North West 200 return for 2027
The 2026 double winner will race for GRYD Racing alongside Glenn Irwin, with the team also entering the British Superbike Championship.

Storm Stacey will return to the North West 200 in 2027, making his second appearance at the event after winning both the Superstock and Superbike races in 2026. The result made him the first newcomer to win a 1,000cc class at the North West 200 since Bruce Anstey in 2002.
The rider will join Michael Laverty’s GRYD Racing squad and share the team with Glenn Irwin. The 2027 season will be GRYD Racing’s first in the British Superbike Championship, arriving as the series prepares for an incoming technical overhaul. Stacey comes to the project after spending the last two BSB seasons with Michael Rutter’s Bathams team.
Stacey’s 2026 Superbike success came on a GRYD BMW M1000 RR supported technically by Alpha Racing. His Superstock victory followed a close final-lap fight with Michael Dunlop, a 36-time Isle of Man TT winner. Stacey then edged Dean Harrison and Irwin in the second Superbike race at the meeting.
Why Stacey is coming back
Stacey has described returning as an easy decision after his breakthrough result. He said the North West 200 delivers sensations that are difficult to match, recalling riders running five abreast at 200mph and calling the event a uniquely intense experience. His comments underline why the road race remains part of his plans despite the new BSB commitment.
The 2027 North West 200 will be only Stacey’s second appearance at the event. Whether he will also compete at the Isle of Man TT in the future remains unconfirmed.
