The Suzuki SV650 appears likely to re-enter the European range for 2027. This is not the result of a Suzuki announcement: the possibility has instead been linked to an executive order from the California Air Resources Board (CARB), which has prompted speculation about the model’s return.

First introduced in 1999, the SV650 was removed from Suzuki’s European line-up for 2026 alongside the V-Strom 650. Its withdrawal was attributed to the bike’s inability to meet the latest Euro5+ emissions standards. The model nevertheless remained on sale in the United States during 2026.

The SV-7GX connection

The likely technical reference is the SV-7GX, which made its debut at EICMA in Milan in November 2025. It uses a 645 cc V-twin engine with a claimed output of 72.4 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 47.2 lb-ft of torque at 6,800 rpm. A future SV650 could deliver similar figures, but Suzuki has not confirmed either its final output or its complete specification.

The timing and location of any unveiling remain unknown, as does the extent of any styling change compared with the previous SV650. EICMA is a plausible venue because that is where the SV-7GX was introduced, although there is no confirmed launch schedule. There have also been rumours of a sportbike using the same engine platform. Until Suzuki makes an official statement, the SV650’s comeback remains a strong indication rather than a confirmed production model.
