Harley-Davidson has officially revealed the Sprint 440, a narrow-profile motorcycle designed around an accessible riding position and a low seat. UK pricing starts at £4,995, while the model is scheduled to make its public debut at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan from November 5 to 8. Harley-Davidson says the Sprint 440 will be offered through participating dealerships around the world, with launch timing and availability varying between markets.

Power comes from a single-cylinder engine with air- and oil-cooling. It produces 27 hp at 6,000 rpm and 28 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. Harley-Davidson says the engine’s long piston stroke is intended to deliver a stronger low-rpm torque feel and the character associated with the brand. The compact layout uses a single overhead camshaft and two valves, one for intake and one for exhaust. Electronic fuel injection adjusts itself for changing operating conditions, while the fuel tank holds 9 litres.

A six-speed transmission drives the rear wheel. Fifth and sixth gears use overdrive ratios, intended to lower engine speed and support better fuel economy during faster cruising. The assist-and-slip clutch is designed to reduce the pressure required at the lever, adding to the model’s accessible brief.

Suspension, brakes and equipment

The front end is equipped with 43mm inverted forks using dual cartridges and offering 130mm of travel. At the rear, piggyback coil-over shocks provide seven-position mechanical preload adjustment. That adjustment allows the suspension to be set according to the load and the rider’s preference.

Braking is handled by a 320mm front disc with a two-piston caliper and a 240mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper. ABS is standard equipment. The cast-aluminium wheels have a 10-spoke design, and LED lighting is used across the motorcycle.

A 3.5-inch colour TFT display forms the instrument panel. It presents a digital speedometer and tachometer alongside the odometer, trip meter, indicators and warning symbols. The result is a contemporary dashboard without changing the straightforward single-cylinder concept.

Pricing and Harley-Davidson’s positioning

The £4,995 UK starting price applies to the Dark Billiard Gray version. Choosing Vivid Black or Teal Thunder increases the price to £5,195. Harley-Davidson is positioning the Sprint 440 as an approachable way into the brand for several types of rider, including people learning to ride, returning motorcyclists and experienced riders looking for a simple, enjoyable machine.

Harley-Davidson President and Chief Executive Officer Artie Starrs described the Sprint 440 as an invitation to ride. He said the model is intended to help newer riders build skills and confidence, while also serving returning riders and those who want an uncomplicated motorcycle. He compared the sensation of riding to flying without leaving the ground, presenting the Sprint 440 as a model intended to open that experience to a wider range of riders.
