CFMoto has taken its V4 SR-RR into the next phase of development, with the camouflaged superbike now testing on track alongside the Aspar race team. The project’s published figures include a 997cc V4 engine producing a claimed 212bhp. David Alonso is among the three riders who have tried the prototype.

The current track work follows a June test in which CFMoto reported a top speed of 315.82 km/h, or 196.2mph. The company presented that run as a new outright top-speed record for a Chinese motorcycle powered by an internal-combustion engine. The V4 SR-RR is intended to become CFMoto’s flagship model, while its price has not yet been confirmed.

A flagship with a possible racing route

The claimed top speed is 32.8mph below MotoGP’s outright record, set by Jorge Martin on a factory Aprilia RS-GP at Mugello. Once it reaches the market, the V4 SR-RR is expected to face established superbikes such as the Ducati Panigale V4, Honda CBR1000RR-R, Yamaha R1, BMW M1000 RR and Kawasaki ZX-10RR.

CFMoto already has involvement in Moto2 and Moto3, giving the new V4 project a clear connection to the company’s wider racing activity. WorldSBK appears to be the more natural route for a 997cc superbike, although no championship entry has been confirmed. MotoGP is moving to 850cc engines in 2027 and will switch from Michelin to Pirelli tyres, making the V4 SR-RR’s production-based direction more immediately relevant to the superbike category. Testing with Aspar demonstrates the scale of the programme, but it is not itself confirmation of a WorldSBK campaign.
