BMW F450R teaser points to a new naked for October 1
BMW is preparing to show a parallel-twin street bike, most likely built around the F450GS platform.

BMW Motorrad posted a dark silhouette on September 23, previewing a new small-capacity street motorcycle. The clues point towards a naked roadster that may be called the F450R, with MCN expecting the reveal on October 1 at 4pm.
The leading interpretation is an upright motorcycle aimed at the A2 market, powered by the 420cc parallel-twin engine already used in the F450GS range. That reading fits comments Markus Flasch gave MCN at EICMA in Milan in late 2024. The BMW Motorrad CEO said the company planned to take the character of its R, RR and GS families into new categories, including the 450 two-cylinder segment.
Flasch also indicated that the GS would not be the only model based on the 450 platform, while declining to explain the full plan. The platform is built through BMW’s partnership with TVS Motor in India, the same relationship that covers the G310 family and dates back to 2013.
What the silhouette suggests
The image hints at several possible links with the F450GS: five-spoke cast wheels, a single front disc, a trellis main frame and similar header-pipe routing. These remain visual clues rather than confirmed specifications. The exhaust design and swingarm are not clear enough to establish whether either component will carry over unchanged.
The apparent layout is aimed at broad everyday usability, with a low seat, relatively relaxed footpeg position and room for a passenger. The teaser also seems to show a colour TFT display and LED lighting, potentially with an X-shaped light signature. A rear shock with preload adjustment appears to sit beneath the back of the motorcycle.
MCN also expects BMW to offer at least one version with its Easy Ride Clutch system. It is intended to remove the need to operate the left-hand lever even when the motorcycle is stationary. If the production machine does arrive as an F450R, it will enter a busy class containing European, Japanese and Chinese rivals.
