Aprilia has confirmed that Jorge Martin suffered just one fracture in his Phillip Island Sprint crash: a non-displaced fracture of the distal part of the right radius. A CT scan showed that the bone remains aligned, while follow-up examinations did not confirm the initial suspicion of a second fracture in the right ulna.

Martin has been declared unfit for Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix. Rather than returning to Spain, he will remain outside the country and receive the necessary treatment over the coming days, according to Aprilia’s update.

Sepang remains possible

His decision to stay outside Spain leaves open the possibility of attempting to race in Malaysia next weekend. It does not confirm that Martin will be fit for Sepang, but it keeps a return for the next round under consideration.

The crash happened while Martin was battling Marc Marquez for the Sprint victory. It cost the Aprilia rider his two-point championship advantage, while Marquez’s win put the Ducati rider ten points clear. Four rounds remain after Australia, starting at Sepang, but Martin is already ruled out of Sunday’s race.
