Jorge Martin will make another attempt to return from his wrist injury at the Qatar Grand Prix, but he still cannot say how his body will respond to a MotoGP motorcycle. This is not yet a straightforward return to the points fight: the first test is whether he can get through the entire race weekend.

The Spaniard broke his wrist in Australia and travelled to Malaysia only a few days later. He rode on Friday at Sepang, then withdrew on Saturday because the injury had not recovered enough for him to continue. Martin subsequently went back to Spain for further treatment and preparation before Qatar, where he will try to arrive in the best possible condition.

From Thursday, Martin will work with Aprilia to assess his limits progressively. His decision to attempt such a quick return is linked to his mathematical MotoGP title chances; Marc Marquez could secure the championship at the season's 20th round. For Martin, however, physical durability matters before outright pace. Completing the weekend would be the immediate measure of whether this comeback can develop into a points-scoring opportunity.

Bezzecchi looks for a response in Qatar

Qatar also gives Marco Bezzecchi a chance to reset. He was third in the Malaysian Sprint but finished sixth in the main race after a last-lap mistake cost him positions. His overall performance was more difficult than those of Marc Marquez, Pedro Acosta, Alex Marquez and Ai Ogura, who races the same motorcycle.

Bezzecchi is positive about returning to Qatar because it is a circuit he enjoys. He wants to establish the right rhythm immediately, put together a strong weekend and finish as high as possible. The two Aprilia riders therefore arrive at Lusail with different priorities: Martin must first show that he can withstand the demands of the event, while Bezzecchi is looking for a much stronger racing response.
