Fabio di Giannantonio lost a potentially strong result in the Indonesian MotoGP after a heavy lock of the front wheel at Turn 10 was followed by severe vibrations at the front of his Ducati. The VR46 rider eventually finished eighth, despite having shown the speed to run among the quickest riders on the circuit.

The problem arrived on lap 12 of 27. Di Giannantonio had slipped to sixth during the early stages of the Grand Prix, but was among the fastest riders on track when the incident occurred. The front tyre was later found to have a hole in it. Di Giannantonio said there had been no warning before the issue appeared and that he was fortunate to avoid a crash. He raced in the special Pertamina livery.

The setback followed an encouraging start to the weekend. Di Giannantonio qualified on the front row as Ducati’s fastest rider and then took third in the Sprint. He described the event as one of his best weekends of the year, pointing to his front-row start, the Sprint podium and the pace shown against the Aprilias. He remains sixth in the World Championship, positioned between Trackhouse Aprilia riders Ai Ogura and Raul Fernandez.
