David Almansa converted a perfect start into victory in the Qatar Moto3 Grand Prix, taking the lead immediately and setting the pace from the opening laps. The Aspar rider Máximo Quiles, who had started from pole, slipped back through the first corners before recovering to second. Almansa continued to pull away and reached the finish 2.516 seconds clear, completing an all-Spanish podium with Adrian Fernández and Quiles.

The fight for second remained alive until the closing stages. Quiles made a mistake that allowed Fernández through, but stayed close to the eventual runner-up and crossed the line only 0.069 seconds behind him. The result also ended Quiles’ chance of matching David Alonso’s record of 14 victories in a single Moto3 season. Even two wins in the final two Grands Prix would leave Quiles on 13.

Pratama wins the fight for fourth

The battle immediately behind the podium involved Veda Pratama, Alvaro Carpe and Joel Kelso, who exchanged several overtakes during the race. Pratama ultimately finished fourth ahead of Carpe and Kelso. Guido Pini took 11th place.

David Muñoz was involved in two separate incidents. In the early laps, contact with Uriarte at Turn 1 sent the latter into a crash and brought Muñoz one Long Lap Penalty. Muñoz was later involved in the incident involving Eddie O’Shea’s highside, receiving two further Long Lap Penalties. Despite three penalties in total, he still finished eighth.

Uriarte and Aspar take championship honours

Uriarte was able to restart after the crash and fought back to 14th place, reaching the points and securing the Moto3 Rookie of the Year title. The Qatar round also delivered a team championship result: Aspar mathematically clinched the Moto3 teams’ world championship. Alongside Almansa’s race win, those two titles made it a decisive day for the category.
