Adrian Fernandez’s disqualification from six races of the 2026 Moto3 season has been overturned by the FIM International Court of Appeal. Appeals from both Leopard Racing and the rider were upheld on their merits, cancelling the two earlier decisions issued by the FIM Appeals Commissioners. The relevant sporting authorities must now take the steps required to apply the ruling.

The original sanction followed a finding by the FIM technical direction that the seals on two of Fernandez’s engines had been opened without authorisation. The rider was disqualified from the Thai, Brazilian, United States, Spanish, French and Catalan Grands Prix, covering six of the season’s first seven rounds. The appeal ruling was issued on 15 October.

What changes in the standings

The disqualification removed 77 points from Fernandez’s championship total. The rider, brother of two-time MotoGP race winner Raul Fernandez, had been third when the original penalty was imposed and later dropped to 14th. If the results are reinstated, he is expected to move to fifth with 148 points, ahead of Marco Morelli on 146.

The legal process may not be finished. The FIM Technical Commission has four weeks in which to appeal the decision. The FIM has also said that the detailed legal and technical grounds for overturning the previous rulings will be set out in the reasoned judgment. Leopard Racing thanked its supporters, experts, witnesses and legal team, crediting them with restoring the honour and dignity of the team and its rider.
