WorldSBK 2027: MGM uncertainty keeps the grid unsettled
Honda will retain Chantra and Dixon, while five places and MGM’s participation remain undecided.

Honda has confirmed that Somkiat Chantra and Jake Dixon will race together in WorldSBK in 2027. That leaves five places without an official decision: two at Motoxracing Yamaha, plus one Ducati entry each at MGM, Motocorsa and Goeleven.
The central question is MGM, which has not confirmed that it can secure the budget needed to continue in the championship next season. That uncertainty directly affects Tarran Mackenzie’s plans. The British rider opened the year with fourth place at Phillip Island and followed it with another top-five finish at Misano.
Mackenzie was then injured at the next round, his home event at Donington, suffering fractures to his left tibia and fibula, collarbone and shoulder blade. Loris Baz took his place at Cremona, while MGM hopes to have Mackenzie back for the final two rounds of the season. That plan is now linked to the team securing its 2027 participation.
Goeleven, which fields Lorenzo Baldassarri, is also said to be considering adding a second Ducati for next season. The 17 riders confirmed so far for 2027 are split across six Ducatis, four Yamahas, two BMWs, two Hondas, two bimotas and one Kawasaki. The championship will also enter a new Michelin tyre era in 2027, adding another major factor to the teams’ preparations.
