Bimota gains useful Cremona track time before WorldSBK round
Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani worked on the KB998 in dry conditions before rain curtailed their preparation.

Bimota used a limited Cremona test to prepare for the upcoming WorldSBK round at the Italian circuit. Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani were able to work on the KB998 during the dry morning, but rain arrived around lunchtime and shortened the programme. The session was not a complete washout: the riders had already completed laps and gathered information before the weather intervened.
Lowes called the test positive and said the team had identified a useful direction for its FP1 work. He also said he enjoyed riding the bike and thanked the crew for travelling to Cremona immediately after the difficult Magny-Cours race weekend. The Italian round was due in just under two weeks, and Lowes’s immediate ambition is for Bimota to close the gap to the podium rather than simply treat the test as preparation completed.
Bassani said the dry running gave the team the opportunity to examine different setup options for the Cremona race. Although the test was brief, he viewed it as worthwhile because both riders could ride the circuit before the race weekend. Cremona has previously delivered a strong result for Lowes: he beat Nicolo Bulega in the 2024 Superpole Race there. The following relevant season was less rewarding, however. When the Bimota KB998 raced at the circuit for the first time, Lowes finished off the podium in all three races.
