Ducati closed its 2026 MXGP campaign at Darwin, Australia, the 19th and final round of the FIM Motocross World Championship. Calvin Vlaanderen finished sixth overall in MXGP after taking sixth place in both motos on the Desmo450 MX.

The Darwin meeting took place at the Motor Sport Complex in Hidden Valley. The circuit is 1540 metres long and uses a mixed sand-and-clay surface, with the track winding through the area’s hills. Vlaanderen entered the races after finishing seventh in Saturday’s qualifying race. He was eighth through the first corner in moto one, then fought around fifth place before crossing the line sixth. A better start in moto two put him sixth at the end of the opening lap, and he held that position to the chequered flag.

Vlaanderen ends the championship 11th

The Dutch rider ended the championship 11th overall after missing two races because of injury. His season also included fourth-place overall results in South Africa and China, together with several other top-ten finishes. Vlaanderen called the final day fairly good, while acknowledging that he was not completely satisfied with his riding. He nevertheless regarded the two sixth-place results as a satisfying way to finish the campaign.

Zanchi takes 10th in MX2

Ferruccio Zanchi supplied another top-ten result for Ducati in MX2, finishing inside the top ten in both motos. The Beddini Racing Ducati Factory MX2 Team rider placed 10th overall at Darwin on the Desmo250 MX. The result lifted him one position in the championship standings, to 14th, despite his having contested only 11 of the 19 rounds. His absences followed injuries at the start of the season and in Great Britain.

Darwin was Zanchi’s second race since returning to competition. He said the final two rounds had been used as preparation for the Motocross of Nations at Ernée, where he will represent Italy for the first time.
