Supercars returns to Phillip Island from 2027
A five-year agreement brings the Australian championship back to the circuit as MotoGP and WorldSBK move away.

The Supercars Championship will return to Phillip Island from 2027 under a five-year agreement, bringing the circuit back onto the calendar for the first time since 2019. Phillip Island will host one of the championship’s Finals events, putting it among the late-season venues involved in the title fight.
The timing gives the deal added importance because MotoGP is leaving the circuit after 2026. The Australian race has been agreed for a new street circuit in Adelaide from 2027, although that plan faces significant political hurdles. WorldSBK is also expected to depart Phillip Island after its 2027 season opener.
A lift for local businesses
MotoGP and WorldSBK remained important to businesses around Phillip Island despite declining crowds in recent years and the destination’s difficult access. Major Events Minister Anthony Carbines said the Supercars return would bring spectators and customers back to local businesses. He also pointed to the five-year commitment as support for regional Victoria’s ability to continue hosting major events.
The agreement also arrives as Supercars marks 30 years in 2027. Executive chairman Barclay Nettlefold described Phillip Island as an iconic venue with an important place in the championship’s history, while saying the return would create a new chapter for fans, teams and drivers. MotoGP is due to make its final appearance at the circuit next weekend.
