Sencat Yamaha to end its BSB programme after 2026
The team will finish the current British Superbike season before stepping away from racing as a team in 2027.

Sencat Yamaha will complete its British Superbike Championship campaign after the 2026 season, while Sencat Racing will not compete as a team in BSB or other classes during 2027. The decision was announced on Saturday at Brands Hatch, venue for the season’s final meeting, one day before the championship was due to conclude.
The team has raced a Yamaha this season after several years with Aprilia. Christian Iddon has been its rider, with fifth place standing as his best result up to the announcement. The decision removes Sencat from the British championship and from other racing classes as a team for 2027, bringing its current competition programme to a close after the Brands Hatch finale.
Why Sencat is stepping away
Sencat Racing owner Chris Barnes described the move as difficult and said it followed several factors. He explained that he now needs to give more attention to his family and his own business, as managing a business alongside a race team had become increasingly difficult.
Barnes also highlighted the depth of the team’s connection with his family, saying that BSB had been part of their lives for almost 20 years. He thanked the people who had supported the effort over that period, as well as his team and riders for their work during the current season. Sencat Yamaha will therefore bring its BSB programme to an end after the Brands Hatch finale.
