McLellan sweeps Lommel as Farres extends MX2 points lead
The Triumph rider won both motos at the MXGP of Flanders, while teammate Guillem Farres finished second overall and increased his championship advantage.

Camden McLellan swept the MX2 class at the MXGP of Flanders, winning both motos at Lommel. The Triumph Factory Racing rider had already won the qualifying race and completed round 14 of the MX2 World Championship with the first 1-1 result of his career. Teammate Guillem Farres finished second overall and strengthened his position at the top of the standings.
McLellan signalled his pace in timed practice by setting the fastest lap on Lommel’s demanding deep-sand circuit. He then won the qualifying race, but the opening Grand Prix moto required a recovery drive. McLellan took the lead on lap 12 after Farres made a mistake and controlled the race from that point. He crossed the finish in 36:08.902, ahead of Simon Längenfelder and Farres.
The second moto developed more quickly in McLellan’s favour. He moved into third on lap three and began chasing Farres and Längenfelder. Farres had taken the holeshot and led through the opening laps, but McLellan passed both riders within a few laps. He maintained his pace to the finish and won in 35:50.135. The two victories gave him 50 points and overall MX2 victory at Lommel.
Farres increases his championship advantage
Farres missed the overall win to his teammate, but still had a valuable championship weekend. His third place in race one and second in race two secured second overall with 42 points. The result moved the Triumph rider to 668 points and extended his lead over Sacha Coenen to 47 points; Coenen has 621.
McLellan remains third on 608 points and has reduced the gap to second place to 13 points. Längenfelder is fourth with 598, while Liam Everts is fifth on 542. Triumph Factory Racing also recorded its sixth double podium of the season, with its two riders occupying the top two overall positions in MX2 at Lommel.
McLellan described the race as difficult and physically demanding, crediting the team’s work and his ability to keep pushing to the finish. Vincent Bereni, Triumph Factory Racing’s team manager, called Lommel one of the toughest venues on the calendar and highlighted the value of the points collected by the team. Farres also pointed to the importance of extending his championship lead.
Results across the other classes
Triumph also collected strong results outside MX2. Dirt Store Triumph’s Billy Askew won the second EMX250 moto and finished second overall in the class. In MXGP, Ben Watson claimed seventh overall, the best Grand Prix result for the TF 450-X in the premier class.
The championship resumes on August 15–16 at Uddevalla in Sweden, following the scheduled weekend break. Farres will arrive as the points leader, while McLellan will try to use his Lommel sweep to close the remaining gap to second place in the standings.
