Jorge Prado takes SMX Playoff 2 and leads by 16 points
A pair of runner-up finishes put Prado ahead of Haiden Deegan and Hunter Lawrence before the triple-points SuperMotocross Final.

Jorge Prado will head into the 2026 SuperMotocross Final with the championship lead after winning Playoff 2 through consistency rather than a moto victory. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider posted 2-2 finishes in the two 450SMX races, giving him the overall result and a 16-point advantage over Haiden Deegan and Hunter Lawrence, who are tied for second. Ken Roczen is fourth, 18 points behind Prado, while Cooper Webb sits fifth, another two points back. Motorcycle.com reported the Playoff 2 result and the title positions.
Roczen controls the opening moto
The opening race lasted 20 minutes plus one lap and developed into a sustained duel between Prado and Roczen. Prado took the holeshot and led the early stages, trading quick laps with Roczen, who was riding the Progressive Insurance / Cycle Gear / Ecstar Suzuki. Just before the halfway point, Roczen made his move and built an advantage of more than two seconds.
Prado reduced the deficit late in the race while working through lapped traffic. He came within one second of Roczen on the final lap, but the Suzuki rider held on for victory by 1.3 seconds. Deegan finished third, followed by Lawrence and Webb. The result gave Roczen a 1-4 score across the two motos.
Lawrence wins the second moto
Hunter Lawrence started Moto 2 from the holeshot on his Honda CRF450RWE. Prado briefly took the lead before Lawrence reclaimed it and pulled away to win by 14.9 seconds for Honda HRC Progressive. Prado crashed in the sand around the midpoint, rejoined in fourth and recovered to finish second.
The fight behind Lawrence became increasingly unsettled. Deegan crashed in the sand while battling Prado for second, then became tangled with Roczen during the re-entry. Webb moved past both riders, but contact during a pass involving Deegan sent Webb to the ground. The final order was Lawrence, Prado, Deegan and Roczen, giving Lawrence a 4-1 score and Deegan two third-place finishes. Lawrence and Roczen therefore tied on overall results, but Lawrence took second overall because his victory came in the second moto.
The title will be decided at the Final
The SuperMotocross Olympic scoring system awarded Prado the Playoff 2 overall win on his 2-2 result. The round’s double-points format strengthened his position in the championship: Prado leads Deegan and Lawrence by 16 points, with Roczen 18 points behind the leader and Webb a further two points adrift.
The leading Playoff 2 results were completed by Garrett Marchbanks, who finished 10th-8th on a Kawasaki, and R.J. Hampshire, ninth-6th on a Husqvarna. Malcolm Stewart went 7th-11th, Eli Tomac 6th-12th, and Jordon Smith 14th-7th. The results also included Ducati rider Dylan Ferrandis with a 13th-9th score and Aaron Plessinger’s 8th-13th result for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing.
The 2026 SuperMotocross Final is scheduled for September 26 at Thunder Ridge Nature Arena in Ridgedale, Missouri. Triple points will be available there, leaving Deegan, Lawrence and Roczen within reach of Prado and giving the closing round considerably more weight than Playoff 2. Webb remains fifth and will need a major result to re-enter the title battle.
