John McGuinness is expected to remain with Honda for 2027, with his programme set to include the Isle of Man TT, the North West 200 and selected rounds of the British Superbike Championship. The 23-time TT winner has indicated that he will continue racing, although the coming season is not planned as a full BSB campaign.

McGuinness says his role with Honda has broadened to include ambassadorial work and other activities, but he still wants to race. Testing with the team is part of the plan, as is riding for Honda at various events. He also described the racing programme as selective, with the North West 200 and TT already on the horizon and only a few BSB rounds under consideration.

The 2027 plans follow a strong 2026 for the Morecambe rider. In the Superbike TT, McGuinness recorded the fastest six-lap race time of his career and finished fifth. The Senior TT later ended under a red flag, something McGuinness said he did not want to be the way his event concluded. He remains motivated and focused on improving.

Honda’s CBR1000RR-R was also shown to be competitive during the year by Dean Harrison, McGuinness’s Honda Racing UK team-mate. McGuinness then added a significant result of his own at the 2026 Classic TT, taking his first road-racing victory in seven years. That win reinforces the case for extending a racing career that McGuinness says he still cannot leave behind, even as his work with Honda develops beyond competition.
