Dunlop and McGuinness Vimto Honda SP-1s go to auction
Two Honda SP-1s linked to the 2000 TT will be offered at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2026, with estimates reaching £100,000.

Two Honda SP-1s carrying Vimto-inspired colours and a 2000 racing history involving Joey Dunlop and John McGuinness are heading to a UK auction. The bikes will be offered at the Iconic Motorcycle Sale during the NEC Classic Motor Show 2026 on Sunday, November 15. Visordown lists an estimate of £80,000–£100,000 for Dunlop’s machine and £50,000–£60,000 for McGuinness’s.
Dunlop’s Honda is the more notable of the pair on the evidence supplied: it won the 2000 TT F1 event, and Dunlop also finished third in the Senior race. Earlier that season he placed second at Cookstown and put the SP-1 on pole for the North West 200. Dunlop and McGuinness faced strong Yamaha R1 opposition there. For the TT, Honda sent over an Aaron Slight World Superbike engine together with a Showa suspension set-up.
From TT machinery to collector bikes
The bike later raced by Dunlop had originally been James Toseland’s machine for the season. After Toseland was injured during testing at Cadwell Park, Dunlop used it in several warm-up races ahead of the Isle of Man TT. Once the 2000 TT was over, the factory-specification bike was put back into British Superbike trim. The Slight engine, most of the suspension and its red Vimto bodywork were removed.
Both SP-1s came from Paul Bird’s team and were sold at the end of 2000 to Dennis Berwick. He fielded his son Peter Berwick and Jason Davies in the British Superbike Championship in 2001 and 2002. The motorcycles later went to a collector and then to a vendor in 2014. Neither has raced since the 2002 season, although both have been run at selected events during the last 24 years. Visordown says they have never previously been offered for sale. The auction is being held on behalf of Iconic Auctioneers.
