Darryn Binder secured the 2026 MotoAmerica Supersport championship at Circuit of The Americas, one round before the season ends. The South African completed a two-race sweep in Austin, taking his season total to 10 victories and 15 podiums.

The points situation made the result definitive. Binder now leads with 368 points, while Josh Herrin has 292, leaving a 76-point margin that cannot be overturned at the finale. Herrin’s weekend included a 20th-place result in Race 1 and seventh place in Race 2.

Binder controlled the second race from the front on the #53 Celtic/Economy Lube + Tire/Warhorse Ducati Panigale V2. He established clear air early, then managed the advantage to the finish, taking the chequered flag 3.4 seconds ahead of the group behind him.

The closer fight developed for the remaining positions. Harrison Voight, Josh Hayes, Kayla Yaakov and Mikey Lou Sanchez swapped places throughout the race, with less than a second separating the group at the white flag. Sanchez had to start 26th after an ignition problem on the warm-up lap, yet moved to eighth by the end of lap one. He later passed Voight on the back straight during the final lap and crossed the line in second place.

That initial result was overturned in Parc Fermé. FIMNA Stewards found Sanchez’s motorcycle underweight and disqualified him, promoting Hayes to third. Hayes also recorded the race’s fastest lap, a 2:13.047.

Binder is the younger brother of Brad Binder and arrived in MotoAmerica after a 13-year MotoGP career. He became the leading Supersport rider in the United States during his first season there. The championship’s final round is scheduled for September 25–27 at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville.
