Bobby Fong switches to BMW and OrangeCat Racing for 2027
The 2026 MotoAmerica Superbike champion will defend the number 1 plate on an alpha Racing-prepared BMW M 1000 RR alongside Sean Dylan Kelly.

Bobby Fong will defend his MotoAmerica Superbike title with a new team and a new motorcycle. OrangeCat Racing has signed the 2026 champion for the 2027 and 2028 seasons, placing him alongside Sean Dylan Kelly from next year. Both riders will campaign BMW M 1000 RR motorcycles prepared by alpha Racing.
The deal ends Fong’s time with the Attack Performance Progressive Yamaha R1, the motorcycle on which he earned his first premier-class championship. At the final meeting of the season at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Fong overturned a 26-point deficit to Kelly. He had already collected six wins in 2026, including two in succession at the circuit. Fourth place in the wet third race of the finale was enough to secure the title after Kelly crashed on lap four. Fong finished the season with 316 points, against Kelly’s 305.
OrangeCat Racing became the first official BMW team in the MotoAmerica Superbike class. During its debut campaign, Kelly finished second overall, recording three victories and 13 podiums. The new pairing also has an established history: Fong and Kelly were Supersport teammates in 2019.
Team principal Jeff Connors said the combination should contribute to the development of OrangeCat’s superbike, while Kelly said the riders will work toward putting both BMWs at the front. For Fong, 2027 brings the task of defending the number 1 plate on different machinery. His 2026 championship was Attack Performance’s fifth Superbike crown, following the team’s titles from 2020 through 2023. Yamaha also received the 2026 Manufacturer of the Year award.
